The Spring, Creek, Trail rogaine was held on Saturday 19 October 2024 at Yanununbeyan National Park and Conservation Area. It was a fabulous day with clear skies then beautiful stars and comet viewing before the moon came up. Teams enjoyed the beautiful open bush and spring wildflowers.

The 6 hour event was won by Oscar Brown and Oscar Woolford with 1940 points, Monkia Binder and Bruce Barnett won mixed with 1310 points and Anna Cohen and Bella Dunk won women's with 830 points. The 12 hour event was won by Tristan White and Ivan Koudashev with 2680 points, visiting all controls with 45 minutes to spare, Toni Bachvarova and Andrew Smith won mixed with 2370 points, and Rachel Grindlay and Nicole Mealing won women's with 1940 points.

A big thanks to our local caterers, Carwoola RFS, and event setters Tom Fitzgerald and Holly Ashburner.

2025 Rogaining Calendar

The calendar for 2025 has been set for ACTRA. It features ACT hosting the Australasian Rogaining Championships on 15-16 March in northern Kosciuszko National Park, a‍n inter-state challenge Spring rogaine with NSWRA as well as our standard Twilight, 6hr, virual, winter 4hr, metro and night/day events.

2025 ARC Murrumbidgee Wayfaring‍

On 15-16 March 2025  ACTRA is hosting the next Australasian Rogaining Championships. The course is situated at the northern end of Long Plain in northern Kosciuszko National Park, this area features long unburnt tall forest with grassy plains. It is superb rogaining country with a mix of terrain, vegetation and navigational features to keep you entertained. Even a bit of European history with old huts on the course. About 3 hours drive from Canberra and we are looking at running a bus to the event.

David Baldwin and Julie Quinn are setting the course and we'd love people to help with the event. We will need people to help set up, at the Hash House, doing safety patrols (road and mountain bike), first aid, assisting with catering and generally helping rogainers have a good time. After the event, we will also need people to collect controls. Please contact Julie via the website, on 0421 021 693.  Thank you to those who have already volunteered.

World Rogaining Champs - Spain 5-6 July 2025

The 19th World Rogaining Championships will be held in Spain in the municipalities of Quintanar de la Sierra and Neila, approx 170km N of Madrid on 5-6 July 2025.‍ The WRC events are high quality events that are an excellent excuse to visit a new country. While technically there are qualification criteria, there are always spots for all rogainers to come and compete. We will give you a link to the website and entries when these open in December. The picture may or may not be at all accurate for what the course is like! But it is in Spain...

President's Piece‍

Our President has again been checking out fresh rogaining country, this time in Marseille. Stephen Goggs says:

‍Well that’s it - another year of rogaining in the ACT and regions done and dusted. As usual thanks must go to all the volunteers who plotted, planned, posed, paved the way - and this year also catered - for us all to enjoy the sport of long-distance cross-country navigation. Congratulations also to all those ANU students who ‘graduated’ from ACTRA rogaines this year in time to compete in the annual Inward Bound comp, and to an ANU team for (again) taking out the Intervarsity challenge in WA. There’s plenty more to look forward to in the short to medium term future, with ACTRA hosting the Australasian Champs next year, a shared event with NSWRA on the calendar for later in 2025 and the Big One already in the pipeline for the World Champs in South Australia in 2027.

Now is the time to think about getting involved in making it all happen, so please have a think over the summer about ways that you can contribute to keeping rogaining going.
