ACT ROGAINING ASSOCIATION BULLETIN‍

Two-Reserves Tuggeranong Twilight 3 hour - Sat 15 Feb

It’s Twi-time!

Saturday February 15 at 4pm marks the date of ACTRA’s first rogaine of the year. You’ve heard of the TT Race and the Triple Tri - well now ACTRA goes one better: ‘T4’ The Two-Reserves Tuggeranong Twilight. This year we go back to Canberra’s southern suburbs, with an assembly area providing excellent access to Tuggeranong Hill and Rob Roy Nature Reserves. Course setters have identified some not-too-easy not-too-hard control sites, perfect for all levels of fitness and even better for fabulous views of our amazing territory. We still need a few more helpers on the day, and we’ll need control collectors afterwards, so if you are keen to come but can’t/don't want to run please get in touch with Stephen via [email protected] Entries are open now, so sign up and come rogaining!

Australasian Champs 15-16 March Kosciuszko National Park

The Murrimbidgee Wayfaring rogaine is being held in the Long Plain and Cooleman Plain region of northern Kosciuszko National Park, about 3 hours from Canberra on 15-16 March. Lovely undulating high country plains and bush covered hills to explore over 24 hours. Yes, there is only a 24 hour event, but you are allowed to come back overnight for dinner and a sleep.

Hosted by ACTRA, we have a dedicated website for you to explore with additional notes about the region that the map covers which will be added to between now and the event.

We are putting on a bus from Canberra so you can have relaxing travel with other rogainers and can sleep all the way home.

ACTRA Navigation Workshop  - 29-30 March‍

Are you keen to take your rogaine flag finding to a new level? The ACTRA Navigation Workshop held over a full weekend caters for everyone from beginnners to more experienced rogainers. There's always something to learn about how to navigate better. In small groups of people with similar abilities we will teach you on-ground practical navigation in the day and night, together with a session on planning, culminating with a mini-rogaine to put all of the tips and tricks into practice.

Keep an eye out for entries to open soon.

World Rogaining Champs, Spain 5-6 July 2025‍

Tjalve Sports Club and the IbeRogaine are thrilled to announce the 2025 Rogaining World Championship (WRC 2025), which will be hosted in the magnificent natural setting known as “Sierra de Pinares” region, in the province of Burgos (Spain). The WRC 2025 will take place between the 5th and 6th of July 2025, aiming to be an unforgettable experience for those who love rogaining. The event is open to all rogainers.

Organisers say this mountainous area provides an exciting challenge and stunning landscapes that will make this championship a unique experience. ACTRA's own Ron Simpson and Jean Douglass have been appointed by the International Rogaining Federation as independent course advisors. They say it is a beautiful area and will be good rogaining. Perhaps a touch more fun with a bit of practice walking up hills before the event.

If this sounds like fun, but you're not too sure what a World Rogaining Champs entails, please reach out to Julie Quinn, David Baldwin or Jean Douglass, who will be happy to tell you all about the many events they have been to and exciting holidays built around a WRC event.
