ACT ROGAINING ASSOCIATION BULLETIN

Cross-Border Metrogaine

We had beautiful weather for the 2023 Cross-border Metrogaine, which was held on 6 August in the Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra area. Thank you to Kelvin Meng, Keira Banks, Mandy Leong and all the other volunteers who helped make this event a success! Thank you also to the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council for use of the Queanbeyan Showground Grandstand facilities, which was certainly a luxurious indoor venue for a rogaine!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the event, we hope you enjoyed rogaining in the area, particularly the scenic parts of the course along the Queanbeyan River and in the reserves! The event was well represented in the youth categories, with the men's youths accounting for four of the top ten places. A big congratulations to overall winner Ryan Stocks (also the winner of the mens category), who was a comfortable 350 points ahead of second place, Susie Sprague and Selina Stoute who won the womens category, and Oscar Woolford, James Harris and Liv Murphy who won the mixed category.

Night/Day Entries Open

‍Entries for the 2023 Night/Day rogaines at Orroral valley are now open! After a long hiatus, rogaining is returning to this glorious area with the 5 hour night and 6 hour day rogaines on 2-3 September. Camping is available on Saturday night at the nearby honeysuckle campground but bookings are essential through the ACT parks site here. Hartley will also be running an opt-in breakfast option for $5 per person on sunday morning. Entries close 30 August but signup before 28 August to avoid the late fees!

‍ACT Rogainers at WRC2023

A huge congratulations to all the ACT rogainers that competed at the World Rogaining Championships in the US. The course was situated on the shores of Lake Tahoe in the rugged Sierra mountains ranging between 1900m and 2600m above sea level.

We had five repping the metaphorical ACTRA flag including Tony Slatyer and Grant Battersby, Martin Etherington and Robin Gardner. A huge kudos also goes to Geoff Lawford and Rodney Gray who took out the Mens Ultravets category, and to legendary committee members Julie Quinn and David Baldwin who finished 2nd in the Mixed Vets category.
No doubt everyone would have clocked some massive vert s
o we look forward to all the stories when you're all back!
