Welcome to the 2025 virtual 4-hour rogaine “Parkes and Parks”. This year’s event area includes the parliamentary suburb of Parkes, along with the many parks in the leafy suburbs of Barton, Forrest, Griffith, Red Hill, Hughes, Deakin and Yarralumla. Expect big views, famous landmarks and abundant nature, along with some lesser-known places and quirky artworks.

The start location is at Deakin shops. This is shown as a triangle near the centre of the map. There is ample free parking in Hannah Place.

Please enter the event and we will publish a set of results at the finish. Entries are free.

It’s a virtual event, which means that you can take part at any time between Saturday 24 May and Monday 10 June 2025, and the course uses the MapRun app on your phone or watch to record your visits to control sites. Please download and read these instructions on using MapRun to learn how to use the App. The App uses the GPS on your phone to work out you are at the control location. To score a control you will need to be within 10 m of the feature. Check your detailed control descriptions as there will be no flags.

The MapRun App will show the map on your phone screen but if you prefer to be able to see the whole map, download and print your own copy. The map, control descriptions and course setters notes will be loaded to this page on Tuesday 20 May.

You can compete individually or as a team.

Copies of the map will be printed on waterproof Teslin and left at the Paddy Pallin store on Lonsdale Street, Braddon for you to collect from Tuesday 20 May. There are 400 maps, which should be plenty but if they are all taken you will have to print your own. We will put out 2/3 at the start and re-stock later. The store staff will not be able to help you if they have run out.
