Course Description

The Bodalla State Forest to the west of Narooma on the NSW South Coast will be the location for the 2009 ACT 24h rogaining championships on 1-2 August.

An 8h event will also be run in conjunction with the championships for those who aren't too keen on all night navigation. Along with the championship, this event also begins on midday Saturday.

A bus from Canberra will depart on the Friday evening for those who do not wish to drive.

The terrain is hilly with elevation ranging from 50m above sea level to over 250m with numerous tracks across the course. Vegetation is variable with spur lines quite open and clear of undergrowth, while thicker vegetation is present at lower elevations. The course provides panoramic views from the higher elevations and some beautiful clear creeklines.

Entry Fee

The entry fee is $70 and $55 concession which includes camping from Friday through to Sunday night and full catering from 5pm Saturday through to Sunday lunch for both the 8 and 24h teams. For that reason the entry fee is the same for both events, and participants in the 8h are strongly encouraged to camp on Saturday night and enjoy breakfast before driving home.

Student Teams and Australian University Championships

The Nigel Aylott Memorial Sports Fund (NAMSF) will pay the entry fee for all student participants aged 16 years or over (full-time, part-time, under graduate, post graduate or senior high school) regardless of whether they are competing in the University Championships or the 8h event. Please put a note with your entry so that participants can be reimbursed at the event (late fees associated with entry after 17th July will not be paid by the NAMSF). In addition, the NAMSF will provide $1,000 for one university team from each state to attend the event. Please contact your state association for further details.

Getting There

Bus - ACTRA is running a bus to the event for the heavily subsidised price of $30. The bus will leave the Jolimont Centre in Civic at approximately 6:30pm on Friday night and will also stop en-route to pick up passengers at the Kingston Train Station. It will leave from the Hash House at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon. There are still 4 seats available on the bus. Competitors in the 24h event are encouraged to use these instead of driving after the event. Seats will be allocated to those in order of entry and payment. Driving - The hash house location is approximately a 3.5h drive from central Canberra and 5.5h from Sydney.
