2024 Metrogaine
After a chilly start, we had a glorious day for the Tuggeranong Hills and Playgrounds Metrogaine. About 300 competitors chose to explore the southern suburbs of Canberra and take in the beautiful Brindabella views.
Big congratulations to Oscar Brown who took out the event, very nearly clearing the course. David Baldwin was second, with Braedy Jaugietis third. Check out the full results below. Congratulations to all other placegetters.
The Tuggeranong Homestead was a wonderful Hash Hash location - full of rustic charm, but most importantly delicious home made food at the finish. The soup got rave reviews and the pork bao buns were definitely a rogaine first! The wide selection of homemade cakes also went down a treat.
Big thanks to all the volunteers who helped put on the event - from setters, control hangers, map makers, team admin, parking, tag cutters, pack up and control collectors ... plus so much more. Without the volunteers these events just don't happen!

our metrogaine will be held in the southern suburbs of Canberra on Sunday 4 August, 9:30 - 3:30pm. You'll get to explore an intricate network of footpaths and playgrounds and the glorious views of the Brindabellas. Or you can partake in the more bush sections of the course.
A big thank you to Jon Glanville for another superb virtual rogaine, this time around the lake and hills of Tuggeranong and Kambah. Jon found lots of hidden gems with sculptures, artwork, interesting rocks, great views and a course that went close to a few cafes. All of these temptations did not slow down our fastest rogainers with six people getting around the whole course in less than four hours.
A big thank you yet again to Jon Glanville for another superb virtual rogaine, this time south of Lake Burley Griffin and around Red Hill and South Canberra. Jon found even more hidden gems with sculptures, artwork, interesting geology, great views and the obligatory cafes. All of these temptations did not slow down our fastest rogainers with four people getting around the whole course in less than four hours.
This year's virtualgaine heads south to Mt Arawang, Mt Taylor, McQuoid’s Hill, Urambi Hills and the Tuggeranong valley suburbs of Kambah, Oxley and Greenway. The map features the lovely Tuggeranong lakeside, many suburban playgrounds, and you can explore the back sides of McQuoids and Urambi Hills. Course Setter Jon Glanville has set challenges for the runners who think they might be able to get around the whole course and dilemmas for those who will only take in part of the course. Being a MapRun event though, you can always come back for a second go.
